The Department of Asian and Asian American Studies at California State University, Long Beach, seeks applicants for a position as assistant professor of Asian studies (Korean language and culture) to begin in fall semester 2018.
The position requires a Ph.D. in East Asian languages and cultures, applied linguistics, foreign/second language education, or a relevant area of Korean studies and native or near-native fluency in Korean and English.
The selected candidate will be expected to teach existing courses in Korean language and lower- and upper-division Asian studies courses in an appropriate discipline; develop and teach advanced Korean language and other courses in the area of specialization; maintain an active research program; undertake grant writing and development projects that promote the departmental mission; and collaborate in assessment planning and implementation.
