The National Gugak Center (formerly The National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts) will host the 1st International Workshop for Korean Traditional Music October 18–30, 2010. The program will consist of lectures on Korean traditional music and dance and studio workshops in Korean traditional performing arts, including lessons on playing traditional musical instruments.
Attendance is open to scholars and graduate students in the fields of musicology, ethnomusicology, and education who are interested in Korean traditional music and to composers, producers, and coördinators who are interested in Korean traditional music and its promotion overseas. All participants must be fluent in English, and the number of participants is limited. A registration fee of $200 is required for those who are selected to participate. The National Gugak Center will provide accommodations, food, and round-trip (economy class) transportation.
