2nd International Conference of NextGen Korean Studies Scholars

image: Nam Center logoKore­an stud­ies grad­u­ate stu­dents in the human­i­ties and social sci­ences are invit­ed to par­tic­i­pate in the 2nd Inter­na­tion­al Con­fer­ence of NextGen Kore­an Stud­ies Schol­ars (NEKST) at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan, Ann Arbor, May 16–17, 2014. This annu­al con­fer­ence aims to give grad­u­ate stu­dents an oppor­tu­ni­ty to present their research, share aca­d­e­m­ic inter­ests, and build a com­mu­ni­ty of future Kore­an stud­ies schol­ars. all method­olo­gies and dis­ci­pli­nary tra­di­tions are wel­come as long as the pro­posed paper top­ic is spe­cif­ic to Korea.

To be con­sid­ered for par­tic­i­pa­tion, send an abstract of no more than 250 words to NEKSTconference@umich.edu by Feb­ru­ary 28, 2014. Put “NEKST Con­fer­ence Abstract” in the sub­ject of the e-mail and include full name, insti­tu­tion, aca­d­e­m­ic dis­ci­pline, con­tact infor­ma­tion (e-mail and tele­phone), and paper title. Appli­cants will be con­tact­ed by the end of March regard­ing their abstracts. If accept­ed, paper pre­sen­ta­tions will be 15 min­utes long. Lim­it­ed trav­el grants may be avail­able to accept­ed speak­ers by appli­ca­tion.

The 2nd NEKST Con­fer­ence is spon­sored by the Nam Cen­ter for Kore­an Stud­ies, Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan, Ann Arbor. The con­fer­ence orga­niz­ing com­mit­tee is formed from stu­dents in the Kore­an Stud­ies Grad­u­ate Work­ing Group at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan, the Woosong Kore­an Stud­ies Grad­u­ate Fel­lows at the Seoul Nation­al Uni­ver­si­ty, and the Kore­an Stud­ies Insti­tute at the Uni­ver­si­ty of South­ern Cal­i­for­nia.
