Korean Studies Positions in the Netherlands

image: Leiden University logoLei­den Uni­ver­si­ty in the Nether­lands is seek­ing appli­cants for two fac­ul­ty posi­tions in Kore­an stud­ies. One posi­tion is for a full-time lec­tur­er in mod­ern Kore­an cul­ture, with spe­cial atten­tion to its East Asian con­texts and encom­pass­ing pop­u­lar and “high”-cultural pro­duc­tion in film, lit­er­a­ture, the­ater, art, music, and (new) media, with ref­er­ence to cul­tur­al iden­ti­ties (eth­nic­i­ty, gen­der, lan­guage, social orga­ni­za­tion) and social, polit­i­cal, eco­nom­ic, and reli­gious con­texts in their his­tor­i­cal per­spec­tive. The sec­ond posi­tion is for a full-time instruc­tor in Kore­an language. 

In both cas­es, appoint­ment will be fixed-term from August 2013 through July 2016, with the pos­si­bil­i­ty of exten­sions of up to three years and of tenure there­after. Review of appli­ca­tions begins May 1, 2013, and con­tin­ues until the posi­tions are filled.
