Leiden University in the Netherlands is seeking applicants for two faculty positions in Korean studies. One position is for a full-time lecturer in modern Korean culture, with special attention to its East Asian contexts and encompassing popular and “high”-cultural production in film, literature, theater, art, music, and (new) media, with reference to cultural identities (ethnicity, gender, language, social organization) and social, political, economic, and religious contexts in their historical perspective. The second position is for a full-time instructor in Korean language.
In both cases, appointment will be fixed-term from August 2013 through July 2016, with the possibility of extensions of up to three years and of tenure thereafter. Review of applications begins May 1, 2013, and continues until the positions are filled.
