Korean Language and Culture Position at CSU Long Beach

The Depart­ment of Asian and Asian Amer­i­can Stud­ies at Cal­i­for­nia State Uni­ver­si­ty, Long Beach, seeks appli­cants for a posi­tion as assis­tant pro­fes­sor of Asian stud­ies (Kore­an lan­guage and cul­ture) to begin in fall semes­ter 2018.

The posi­tion requires a Ph.D. in East Asian lan­guages and cul­tures, applied lin­guis­tics, foreign/​second lan­guage edu­ca­tion, or a rel­e­vant area of Kore­an stud­ies and native or near-native flu­en­cy in Kore­an and English.

The select­ed can­di­date will be expect­ed to teach exist­ing cours­es in Kore­an lan­guage and low­er- and upper-divi­sion Asian stud­ies cours­es in an appro­pri­ate dis­ci­pline; devel­op and teach advanced Kore­an lan­guage and oth­er cours­es in the area of spe­cial­iza­tion; main­tain an active research pro­gram; under­take grant writ­ing and devel­op­ment projects that pro­mote the depart­men­tal mis­sion; and col­lab­o­rate in assess­ment plan­ning and implementation.
