Korean Culture on Display at Annual Festival

The Hawaii Korean Chamber of Commerce will present its tenth Korean Festival Saturday, July 9, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Kapiolani Park. The Korean Festival is an annual event run by the Chamber in partnership with dozens of community organizations, businesses, and volunteers. It is intended to share, promote, and raise awareness of Korean culture in the community. Proceeds from the Festival are used to fund service projects and ventures that benefit the Korean and larger community in Hawaii, including an annual scholarship fund for outstanding college students.

Festival events vary from year to year, but typically include performances such as taekwondo and Korean dance, as well as interactive events such as Korean cooking lessons, Korean youth singing competitions, and kimchi-eating contests.
