Korea-Japan Security Issues Forum

The Mat­suna­ga Insti­tute for Peace will spon­sor a forum on Korea-Japan secu­ri­ty issues Feb­ru­ary 16, 2007. The forum will be held in the Cen­ter for Kore­an Stud­ies Audi­to­ri­um on the UH Manoa cam­pus.

The speak­ers at the forum will be for­mer New York Times Asia cor­re­spon­dent Richard Hal­lo­ran and C. Ken­neth Quinones of Aki­ta Inter­na­tion­al Uni­ver­si­ty, a for­mer State Depart­ment offi­cer and the cur­rent hold­er of the Arthur Lynn Andrews Chair in Asian and Pacif­ic Stud­ies at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Hawaii at Manoa. They will dis­cuss secu­ri­ty issues involv­ing Japan and Korea (North and South), includ­ing the six-par­ty talks on North Korea’s nuclear pro­gram.
