Korea Foundation Visiting Professorship at Leiden University

image: Leiden University logoThe Inter­na­tion­al Insti­tute for Asian Stud­ies (IIAS) and the Lei­den Uni­ver­si­ty Insti­tute of Area Stud­ies (LIAS), with spon­sor­ship from the Korea Foun­da­tion, invite appli­ca­tions for a vis­it­ing pro­fes­sor­ship in Kore­an stud­ies, with a spe­cial­iza­tion in the human­i­ties or social sci­ences and a focus on mod­ern and con­tem­po­rary Korea. Appoint­ment will be for a min­i­mum of six months full-time between Sep­tem­ber 1, 2013, and July 1, 2014, and will entail both research and teaching. 

The posi­tion is open to schol­ars with a Ph.D. at all career stages. Lei­den Uni­ver­si­ty aims to employ more women in areas where they are under­rep­re­sent­ed. Women are there­fore espe­cial­ly invit­ed to apply.

Respon­si­bil­i­ties will include orig­i­nal research and dis­sem­i­na­tion of the results through appro­pri­ate chan­nels and teach­ing and the­sis super­vi­sion at the B.A. and M.A. lev­els in Kore­an stud­ies, Asian stud­ies, inter­na­tion­al stud­ies, and oth­er pro­grams and cours­es as required.

The posi­tion will be fund­ed direct­ly through the Korea Foun­da­tion, com­men­su­rate with Korea Foun­da­tion salary ranges. The pro­fes­sor and max­i­mal­ly one depen­dent will be pro­vid­ed with hous­ing and insur­ance by IIAS.
