Jang Jip Choi, an eminent scholar of Korean politics, will be the featured speaker in the Center for Korean Studies Forum on Critical Issues in Korean Studies Thursday, January 28, 2010.
Choi is emeritus professor of political science at Korea University, author of many well-known books, and former director of the Asiatic Research Institute at Korea University. His topic for the forum is “Democratic State Engulfing Civil Society in Korea: The Ironies of Korean Democracy.”
Choi will speak in the Center for Korean Studies auditorium beginning at 4:00 p.m. The program will also include discussion by University of Hawaiâ€˜i at MÄnoa professors Jungmin Seo (political science) and Hagen Koo (sociology).
