The Fifth International Workshop on Korean Studies sponsored by the Worldwide Consortium of Korean Studies Centers convened at at the University of Hawaiâ€˜i Center for Korean Studies July 7, 2009, for a four-day program of presentations and discussions around the theme â€œKorea Coping with Globalization.â€
The Worldwide Consortium of Korean Studies Centers workshops are designed to provide a forum for graduate students in Korean studies to share their research in a supportive and encouraging environment and to promote scholarly interest in Korea around the globe.

The members of the Worldwide Consortium of Korean Studies Centers are Korea University, Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Kyushu University, Peking University, Fudan University, the University of Hawaiâ€˜i at MÄnoa, UCLA, the University of British Columbia, Harvard University, the Australian National University, and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
