The Center for Korean Studies spring 2009 colloquium series will open Friday, January 30, 2009, with a presentation titled “Sports and Politics in Asia” by Professor Victor D. Cha of Georgetown University. The colloquium will be held in the Center for Korean Studies auditorium beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Victor D. Cha is director of Asian studies and holds the D.S. Song Chair at Georgetown University. From 2004 to 2007 he served as director for Asian affairs at the White House National Security Council. He was also the deputy head of delegation for the United States at the Six Party Talks in Beijing. He is an award-winning author of three books and has published widely on U.S. policy in Asia.
