Center for Korean Studies Announces Scholarship Awards for 2014–2015

In addi­tion to these schol­ar­ships, fed­er­al­ly fund­ed For­eign Lan­guage and Area Stud­ies fel­low­ships, admin­is­tered through the School of Pacif­ic and Asian Stud­ies, will go to sev­en Mānoa stu­dents study­ing Kore­an.

Schol­ar­ships for the 2013–2014 aca­d­e­m­ic year, which pro­vide a $15,000 stipend and up to $18,000 for tuition, were award­ed to Lind­say Schaf­fer, M.A. stu­dent in Kore­an lit­er­a­ture; Nar­ith Ta and Taheera Virani, M.A. stu­dents in the Kore­an Lan­guage Flag­ship Pro­gram; and Joseph Michaels, B.A. stu­dent in the Kore­an Lan­guage Flag­ship Pro­gram.

Sup­port for sum­mer lan­guage study, con­sist­ing of $2,500 stipends and tuition, was award­ed to Michaels; Phillip Boulay and Robert York, M.A. stu­dents in the Asian Stud­ies Pro­gram; and John Sey­mour, a Ph.D. stu­dent in the Music Depart­ment.
