Center for Korean Studies Announces Scholarship Awards for 2014-2015

image: CKS logoThe Center for Korean Studies has awarded $75,000 in scholarships to students engaged in Korea-related studies at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa for the 2014-2015 academic year. The scholarship categories and the recipients are listed below.

Donald C.W. Kim Graduate Scholarship

In addition to these scholarships, federally funded Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowships, administered through the School of Pacific and Asian Studies, will go to seven Mānoa students studying Korean.

Scholarships for the 2013-2014 academic year, which provide a $15,000 stipend and up to $18,000 for tuition, were awarded to Lindsay Schaffer, M.A. student in Korean literature; Narith Ta and Taheera Virani, M.A. students in the Korean Language Flagship Program; and Joseph Michaels, B.A. student in the Korean Language Flagship Program.

Support for summer language study, consisting of $2,500 stipends and tuition, was awarded to Michaels; Phillip Boulay and Robert York, M.A. students in the Asian Studies Program; and John Seymour, a Ph.D. student in the Music Department.
