Asiatic Research Institute Fellowship at Korea University

image: ARI logoThe Asi­at­ic Research Insti­tute at Korea Uni­ver­si­ty invites appli­ca­tions for its 2013–2014 Fel­low­ship Pro­gram for North­east Asian Stud­ies. The pro­gram is designed to pro­vide schol­ars and doc­tor­al can­di­dates of for­eign coun­tries with an oppor­tu­ni­ty to car­ry out research on top­ics relat­ed to North­east Asia at Korea Uni­ver­si­ty. The fel­low­ship peri­od is for up to six months and may begin any time between Jan­u­ary 1 and Decem­ber 31.

Indi­vid­u­als in the fields of human­i­ties and social sci­ences who are cur­rent­ly engaged in North­east Asia-related research and teach­ing activ­i­ties are eli­gi­ble to apply. The fel­low­ship is not open to Kore­an nation­als, except those with res­i­dent sta­tus in for­eign coun­tries. Pri­or­i­ty will be giv­en to schol­ars who have received their Ph.D. degree with­in five years of their appli­ca­tion and doc­tor­al can­di­dates who have com­plet­ed all aca­d­e­m­ic require­ments except the dis­ser­ta­tion.

The fel­low­ship grant includes economy-class round-trip air­fare (for those who are based over­seas pri­or to the fel­low­ship peri­od); free accom­mo­da­tions either on or off cam­pus; and access to ARI facil­i­ties, includ­ing Korea Uni­ver­si­ty libraries, and a com­mu­nal office to be shared with oth­er vis­it­ing fel­lows. Suc­cess­ful appli­cants will be encour­aged to present work-in-progress and to con­duct joint research with ARI mem­bers.

Appli­ca­tions require sub­mis­sion of an appli­ca­tion form that can be found on line at; a cur­ricu­lum vitae; a research pro­pos­al; and evi­dence of cur­rent employ­ment or affil­i­a­tion (if pos­si­ble). The appli­ca­tion dead­line is August 8, 2013.
