3rd International Conference of NextGen Korean Studies Scholars

image: Nam Center logoThe 3rd Inter­na­tion­al Con­fer­ence of NextGen Kore­an Stud­ies Schol­ars (NEKST) at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan, Ann Arbor, invites pro­pos­als for par­tic­i­pa­tion in the con­fer­ence, which will be held May 8–9, 2015. This con­fer­ence is held year­ly to give grad­u­ate stu­dents in all aca­d­e­m­ic fields an oppor­tu­ni­ty to present their research on Korea, share aca­d­e­m­ic inter­ests, and build a com­mu­ni­ty of future Kore­an stud­ies schol­ars. All method­olo­gies and dis­ci­pli­nary tra­di­tions are wel­come for sub­mis­sion, as long as the pro­posed paper top­ic is spe­cif­ic to Korea.

Abstracts of no more than 250 words may be sub­mit­ted to NEKSTconference@umich.edu by Jan­u­ary 13, 2015. Include “NEKST Con­fer­ence Abstract” in the sub­ject of the e-mail. Indi­cate your full name, insti­tu­tion, aca­d­e­m­ic dis­ci­pline, con­tact infor­ma­tion (e-mail and tele­phone), and paper title in your email or abstract. Appli­cants will be noti­fied of deci­sions in ear­ly Feb­ru­ary. If accept­ed, com­plet­ed papers will be due by April 16. Lodg­ing and on-site meals will be pro­vid­ed dur­ing the con­fer­ence. Addi­tion­al­ly, accept­ed speak­ers may apply for lim­it­ed trav­el grants.

The 3rd NEKST Con­fer­ence is spon­sored by the Nam Cen­ter for Kore­an Stud­ies, Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan, Ann Arbor, with the sup­port of the Korea Foun­da­tion. The con­fer­ence orga­niz­ing com­mit­tee is formed from stu­dents in the Kore­an Stud­ies Grad­u­ate Work­ing Group at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Michi­gan, the Woosong Kore­an Stud­ies Grad­u­ate Fel­lows at Seoul Nation­al Uni­ver­si­ty, and the Kore­an Stud­ies Insti­tute at the Uni­ver­si­ty of South­ern Cal­i­for­nia.
