The Academy of Korean Studies Fellowship Program for Korean Studies provides research support (dissertation research) for international scholars and doctoral candidates. Those eligible to apply are foreign scholars (including those who have Korean nationality with permanent residence status in foreign countries) in the humanities and social sciences who are currently engaged in Korea-related teaching and research activities.
Three categories of fellowships are available:
Applicants can apply for a maximum of one year of support. The fellowship period should begin within the year 2013.
Fellowship grants include:
- Economy-class round-trip airfare (only offered to overseas awardees)
- Up to 50 percent discount on AKS Guest House charges
- A monthly stipend of 2,500,000 won for senior research Fellowships; 2,000,000 won for junior research fellowships; and 1,500,000 won for pre-doctoral fellowships
- Access to the facilities of AKS, including the library.
All applications must be received by October 31, 2012. Applicants will be notified of the results of the selection process in December.
